It is a book about the radically selfless life of Mother Teresa. After my son read that book, he was inspired and motivated to search for his purpose in the world. I could sense that he was ready to graduate from our homeschool and we began to help him prepare to enter college. I count it all joy to have been on this incredible homeschool journey!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08357214345811348724noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2169766314316215080.post-78452581193057614202017-08-13T00:51:17.153+01:002017-08-13T00:51:17.153+01:00Thanks; following.

I've been there.

They did not have a k-5 teacher, but said if I'd volunteer for the job, I could teach my own child at their building. Trouble is, I'd just had a baby, too, and it was winter...Into baby wraps, into freezing car, half-hour drive to school, out of wraps, teaching child, nursing babe (all in our own private room, of course...) Falling asleep at the table while child does seat work.
Oh, the seatwork, which I prepared every night, since the child's curriculum had not yet arrived. By looking at the teacher's manual/score key, I was able to construct his work for the day, by hand, at our kitchen table, after everyone went to bed. You know, drawing out ten tiny boats, balls, kites, etc., so he could circle 5 or 3 or 8 of them to show he knew quantities. :-\
Oh. The bed. It was sharing a room with the baby's bed, due to the fact that our chimney had caught fire and was being reconstructed. In winter. Leaving a gaping hole in the living room ceiling. Which made the house coat-cold. But we survived even bathing. And the living room furniture had to go somewhere during that time....
Oh, and there was bathing, which could not happen b/c the pump in our small town water tower had give out. Eventually we did get back into water, though. And husband finally came home from his business trip.
As soon as he walked in the door, everything in life just fell into place. Amazing how that is....
And your post is an inspiration. <3Katharinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06962881776842702109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2169766314316215080.post-12709316903328722352016-11-27T17:24:18.424+00:002016-11-27T17:24:18.424+00:00hi,

I've been fighting my nature as a Type B personality and as a result we've done hardly any school... and yet our kids are soaking things up and learning. Could I be more deliberate with things? Of course, and I should with many of them. But it's good to hear that other Type B personalities don't have personality lobotomies to be successful at this. Today I was thinking maybe I should just send my kids to school - I'd have room to breathe, time to clean and wouldn't be depriving them of structure. Thanks, too, for the thought that CM style hs CAN work with combining kids. I've felt a strong resistance to it on various forums, and while I see some advantages to not (like I've seen my younger girl get frustrated easily, I think bc she's comparing herself to her older brother), I love the idea of being together and learning together. Will look forward to perusing your blog more. In the meantime - thanks! :)Christiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15334248633519853918noreply@blogger.com
