"<br /><br />Just to note, Math U See doesn't use rods. They use blocks with units on them.<br /><br />The blocks have raised units to make it clear what that particular block represents. If the block has 3 raised units, it is a "3". If the block has 5 raised units, it is a "5".Calliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03156688534733897706noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2169766314316215080.post-91880470499585797942011-05-03T14:59:52.994+01:002011-05-03T14:59:52.994+01:00Very interesting post - thank you! We use Numicon, which goes up to national curriculum level 2 (soon extending to level 3) - it is particularly good for those with speech & language problems and/or other special needs - although my children at the higher end of the ability spectrum also love it. Don't know how costs would compare......beckyfeeneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01264926026153899569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2169766314316215080.post-5229148865437045372011-05-03T00:01:59.148+01:002011-05-03T00:01:59.148+01:00ShillerMath posted to me in the UK, and after a fi...ShillerMath posted to me in the UK, and after a fiasco with VAT, they should know how to fill in the customs form in such a way that you avoid almost £50 in import taxes. When I ordered, they were offering free postage worldwide, which was well worth it. Have you considered purchasing just their downloadable texts? It will mean finding the manipulatives elsewhere -- a bit of a hassle, but not impossible, considering it's almost all Montessori-style stuff.Kat Patrickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14831608863877232985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2169766314316215080.post-63259977560984772762011-05-02T23:55:19.576+01:002011-05-02T23:55:19.576+01:00Thank you for this.
